Dental Implants for Restoring a Missing Tooth

Twenty years ago, if you lost a tooth, the only way to restore its presence in your mouth was to install a bridge. Even though this was effective, most people with a bridge felt that it simply didn’t feel the same as a real tooth.

As time has passed, oral healthcare and dental technology has advanced. Today dental implants are seen by many professionals as the industry standard for restoring a missing tooth.

There are a few different steps in the implant process. It starts by having Dr. Sohrab Saghezchi examine the jaw structure in the area. It’s important to assess if you have the sufficient jaw structure to anchor an implant. Otherwise a bone graft procedure will need to be performed in advance of the implant procedure.

A narrow channel is then made in your jaw bone. A titanium implant is then screwed into the channel in the bone and your gums are sutured closed.

Titanium is known for being biologically safe and will actually fuse with your natural bone in a process known as osseointegration.

Once your gums have healed and the titanium implant has been fully integrated into the surrounding bone tissues, Dr. Sohrab Saghezchi can go about the process of installing a crown. This will fully restore the missing tooth’s presence and function in your mouth.

If you are missing a tooth and you’re interested in having it restored with a dental implant, you should call Dr. Sohrab Saghezchi’s office in Mill Valley, California at 415-578-5879 to schedule an appointment.
