Further Tooth Loss Complications Can Often Be Prevented by Installing a Dental Bridge

There are a few unfortunate cases where a tooth has been too severely compromised by tooth decay or dental trauma to be treated by a root canal. In a case like this Dr. Sohrab Saghezchi might recommend extracting the tooth to ease a toothache and prevent a dental abscess from developing in your gums.

In the past, some people have been able to live with the compromised oral function created by the loss of a tooth. However, this might prove to be a serious error in judgment.

As the weeks and months go by the void left in your mouth can start to cause the neighboring teeth to drift out of alignment. This can cause the corresponding teeth to suffer excess wear and tear, while also increasing your chances of suffering dental attrition and dental fractures.

To prevent these complications from occurring Dr. Saghezchi can install a dental bridge over the void. This is essentially a replacement tooth that is created with a crown on each end. He will also need to create a pair of abutments from the neighboring teeth to create anchor points capable of anchoring the dental bridge in your mouth. Your dental bridge will need to be created in a dental lab. When it’s ready, you will need to return to our clinic to have it cemented onto the two anchoring abutments.
